Phonics, or word attack skills, is an essential component of any successful reading program. Future School's Phonics program provides students with intensive and systematic instruction in phonic word attack skills to decode text by associating sounds with letters or groups of letters. It involves two critical facets:

• Phonemic awareness - ability to hear individual speech sounds & to segment & blend.
• Phonics - ability to associate the sounds of letters with their written form.

The Program includes fun video tutorials aimed at beginning readers plus work book activity sheets to consolidate what has been learned. The activities use attractive pictures that help students make the important link between letter shape, letter sound and meaning.
